“We’re in the year 2092. Nemo Nobody (Jared Leto, who we know as actor from Requiem For a Dream and as musician from the rockgroup 30 Seconds To Mars) is a strong spirited old man of at least 117 years old. The oldest man on earth and the last mortal human in a world where everyone lives forever. Together with a journalist, he looks back on his life and especially his traumatic youth. Nemo narrates, fantasises and mixes anecdotes to his will. The film follows him during all these memories, fantasies, adventures, truths, dreams, and it’s up to the viewer to decide what is reality and what is fiction.
Mr Nobody is an overwhelming film (the most expensive Belgian film ever!) about the most important choices in life. With flashbacks, director Jaco Van Dormael (Le Huitième Jour) zooms in on the alternative life that the main character could have had if he’d made different decisions. Van Dormael uses 155 minutes full of fascinating screenplay and serves up an overwhelming visual power of which the viewer is treated to an incredible, fantastic, sensual spectacle.”
